The MSMS Lady Waves defeated West Point 2-1 Monday night at the Burns Bottom Soccer Complex in Columbus.
Senior captain Hannah Houston scored both goals for the MSMS girls, and goalkeeper Anna Klae Leland had three saves to preserve the win.
“The girls had a good team effort tonight,” said MSMS head coach Chuck Yarborough. “We are finally developing the kind of possession game we’ll need to be successful the rest of the season. I was also pleased with our defensive shape and teamwork.”
“It’sgreat to see the girls’ hard work starting to pay off as we head into the Thanksgiving break.”
The MSMS girls improved to 1-2.
In the nightcap, the MSMS Blue Waves beat the West Point boys 4-0.
Junior Daniel Leetran led scoring with two goals and one assist. Senior Zach Hodge and junior David Thaggard each added a goal.
“It’s good to get a win before going into the break,” said boys coach Dylan Mims.
“It was a solid win by the team. Had very high pressure and possessed the ball throughout the whole game. Alex Leise also backed us up with 2 saves to complete his clean sheet! “
The MSMS boys improved to 2-1.
MSMS next hosts Columbus on November 29.”
