Astronomy Club exists as an opportunity for people to relax and talk about something their shared interests: space! We recognize that being online may make that a little more difficult, but that’s why the club officers are working on some creative ways to establish the relaxed atmosphere of the club. Be on the lookout for information regarding the club interest meeting where we’ll talk about upcoming Zoom meetings and establishing an online community. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, you can contact club president Mabrie Woods by email at woodsm21@themsms.org or by phone with 662-404-0812.

The Black Student Alliance is a social club dedicated to the creation of a more inclusive, helpful, and understanding community for African American students and their peers. BSA consistently contributes to the community by advocating for the justice of those wrongfully harmed by police brutality and hate crimes, organizing and participating in community service projects, promoting academic excellence, producing informative, yet entertaining, performances, and organizing wellness seminars that keep both BSA members and the MSMS community informed on current events. Not only is BSA a club, but it is a family. Being that our members are so connected, the BSA offers special networking and leadership opportunities that will only propel you into your desired future. The BSA never fails to welcome all students. We, as a club, offer support in your time of need, solace in your time of despair, and comfort in your time of loneliness. We are so excited for this upcoming year, and hope that you will join our club! We’re already waiting for you!

Blu Diamondz is an all-inclusive performing step team founded upon sisterhood and service. Yes, we’re the girls that stroll and step at the parties! Each year, we accept new members and integrate them into the sisterhood by teaching them old steps and strolls, while also coming up with new ones. We typically practice every Tuesday and Thursday from 9PM-10PM, and there we teach and learn steps and strolls for step shows and/or parties. Being rooted in service, Blu Diamondz typically participate in several community service projects throughout the school year—when given the opportunity. We strive to emulate the unexplainable bond between the “Divine 9” organizations of the NPHC, so we pride ourselves on being the “sisters” to the boys’ step team, Blu Knightz. In January of 2020, both organizations collaborated to form the inaugural “MSMS Allstars” step team, and we are eager for the “MSMS Allstars” culture to continue. Blu Diamondz look forward to growing the club and accepting new members!

Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS) welcomes all interested students. We want to learn and grow in The Word as a group striving to be more and more Christ-like. We conduct our typical meetings with worship through music, a short video, and a lesson. At the end of the meeting everyone receives a name of someone who was there (picked randomly), and it is given so that you may be able to focus your prayer that week on that person. We know MSMS can be difficult, but God says that we should not worry and should not fear anyone but Him. Our time on Earth is tough but we will make it through with our Christian family and faith in Jesus.”

Future Physicians of America (FPA) is a club for all students who see themselves in the field of medicine and being a physician. This is the club for you if you want to be a physician—and you want to be around other people who want to be physicians as well. This club typically meets on bi-weekly on Wednesday afternoons and discuss pathways to medical school and specific branches of medicine while hearing from people in the field. This year, we plan on growing the club to become more consistent and more involved on campus. We also plan on reaching out to health professionals within our state to come share their experiences with us. Mu Alpha Theta at MSMS includes the typical math competitions, interesting math games, fun lectures, and creative community service projects. Last year we competed in Math Madness, an online math competition within the nation; the Ala-La-Miss math competition; and the AMC 12. Within the school we have fun with games such as Nim. We present fun math lectures, two we did last year were Visual Calculus and the Shoe Lace Theorem, and ACT/SAT Math prep. Mu Alpha Theta also offers multiple ways to service the community with Math Superstars and Math Outreach. If any of this interests you, please come to the interest meeting! Here’s a fun math problem for you guys to do in the meantime: Find all of the Pythagorean triples (positive integers a, b, c with a^2 + b^2 = c^2) that add to 123456 (i.e. a+b+c=123456). Please contact the officers with any additional questions or with the answer to that problem!

Здравствуйте!  Welcome to Russian club, here to quench all of your hopelessly romantic and lightly communist desires.  In Russian club, we will reinvent our love of music, novels, poetry, and cinematography.  There’s so much Soviet Era animation.  We will meet twice a month to hang out and celebrate Russia through movies, discussion, and quirky Kahoots.  If you’ve ever felt abnormally drawn to wild mushrooms, onion domes, and witches that live in a wooded chicken-legged house to eat children in seclusion, Russian club is the place for you.  Comrades, it’s time to join the Motherland.  До встречи, and join Russian club!

Meetings: Twice a month on Wednesdays

WELCOME TO THE SWIM TEAM!

This is your lovely captain speaking Camille Newman and it is my duty to give you a glimpse into the MSMS swim experience!

This year we have some special circumstances due to co-vid 19 so all practices will be individual until further notice. Each week our coach sends us a dry-land and a swim practice option. You should be practicing as often as possible, but it is up to you which one you do. Try to get in the water as much as you can! YMCAs are open in most places and there are several natatoriums across the state that are allowing people to schedule times for lap swimming. You could also swim in a pond, but I would not recommend it if you are afraid of fish and or bugs. Please practice as hard as you can because we will have a limited number of meets before North State. Each meet counts when trying to qualify! Because the team is spread around the state, we are hoping to schedule several meets. There should be at least one meet in the southern half and one in the Northern half, but we will schedule as many as possible. All of the meets should be on weekends, and as soon as the meet schedule is made it will be sent out. Besides just being a team, we are a swim family. Some of my best memories from junior year were made during the swim season and I would love to make a bunch of new memories this year!

You do not need any prior swim team experience, and there are no try outs. We are all here to have fun!

If you are interested in joining the team please contact one of these three lovely people:

  1. Hardy Cooke (Captain) Cooket21@themsms.org
  2. Coach Scott (Sponsor) Vscott@themsms.org
  3. Camille Newman (Captain) 228-265-0418, Newmanc21@themsms.org

Tea Club is a group of students that meet weekly to sip pleasant beverages over lighthearted and thoughtful conversation. Our concern is mental stability and social comfort of the students in our class. We consciously set aside time from our busy schedules to chill and clear our minds, but because of our relaxed nature, there is no obligation for a member to attend each meeting (which we call “parties”). Our members are encouraged to attend when they feel like they need a break.
