WINTER FORMAL 2016

The upstairs of Hogarth Hall, home to the W’s dining facility and a recreational space, was transformed last Saturday into a Harry Potter Yule Ball themed extravaganza for MSMS students’ annual winter formal. Every year, the dance gives students the chance to unwind and have fun around exam time, as well as giving them the opportunity to dress up. The dance featured plenty of food, themed décor which served as an excellent backdrop for pictures, and of course, dancing! Half the space in the room was allocated for students who preferred socializing to dancing, and this area featured seating, food, and a fun activity which allowed students to search for their name among many stars and themed fans, and when they found it, take it home as a souvenir of the evening.

The other side of the room featured colorful disco lights, and MSMS senior McKenzie Jones was playing DJ, controlling the mood. At the end of the night, student-nominated and voted Winter Formal King, Queen, Prince, and Princess were all crowned—two juniors and two seniors—and couples enjoyed a slow dance. This year, seniors Tyler Hartman and Morgan Dollar won King and Queen, and juniors Aiden Dunkelberg and Keely Brewer were crowned Prince and Princess.  Of the night and the honor, Brewer said, “Winter Formal was my first school dance and it was such a fun experience. I wasn’t expecting to see my name on the ballot but I was really excited when it was, and I hope everyone there had just as much fun as I did!”.
