Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is partnering with the Mississippi Scholastic Chess Association to host the 2020 Regional Scholastic Chess Tournament on Feb. 8.
The event is set to take place at 10 a.m. in Cochran Hall at the Mississippi University for Women.
During the tournament, students from across the state of Mississippi will compete in one of four age divisions:
- K-5
- K-7
- K-9
- K-12
The top three players in each category will receive trophies. In addition, the students who place first in the K-7 and K-9 division will be awarded a full tuition scholarship to attend an MSMS Summer Enrichment Camp in June. MSMS currently offers a Middle School Summer Enrichment Camp and a High School Summer Enrichment Camp for sixth-ninth grade students every year. During this weeklong experience, campers will reside on the MSMS campus digging deeply into fun and hands-on STEM-related courses. To learn more about these camps and sign up, click here.
