The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science is a prestigious, public high school specifically designed for academically gifted and talented students across the state.
Our mission is to enhance the future of Mississippi in the global society by meeting the individual needs of gifted and talented students through providing innovative learning experiences and leadership development in a residential environment. In addition, we will provide quality educational leadership for other educators and aggressive outreach programs that impact students across Mississippi.

What sets MSMS apart?
The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science provides an accelerated, immersive curriculum for the state’s gifted and talented 11th and 12th grade students. Specifically designed to challenge students to push themselves academically, all courses at MSMS are taught at an honors level or above.
In addition to over 100 different courses to choose from, MSMS students also have the option to take courses at Mississippi University for Women and Mississippi State University at no additional cost.
Is MSMS a residential school?
Yes. As a residential high school, all students at The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science live in residence halls under the supervision of professionally trained, full-time residential life staff. MSMS has a female residence hall (Goen Hall) and a separate male residence hall (Frazer Hall) that are exclusively reserved for MSMS students.
What extracurricular activities are there?
While classroom instruction is a big part of MSMS, it isn’t the only thing that keeps our students busy. MSMS is proud to offer over 50 unique clubs and organizations, tailored to individual student interests and abilities.
