Congratulations to the seven MSMS students listed below who are this year’s winners of the Ephemera Prize, a writing competition held in conjunction with the annual Eudora Welty Writers’ Symposium at Mississippi University for Women.
- Braeden Foldenauer for his essay “Monster Inside Me”
- Emily Shy for her essay “Delta Driving”
- Stephanie Dauber for her story “Cheyenne and Mama”
- Jalexis Evans for her poem “Do You Hear It”
- Reagan Poston for her poem “Greasy Joe”
Honorable Mentions:
- Dustin Dunaway for his essay “Calloused Hands”
- Wrishija Roy for her poem “Cultures Unheard”
This year’s contest had the largest number of submissions ever from 60 students representing 16 schools.
All seven students were invited to have lunch with the Symposium writers on Friday, October 21st, and the five place winners later read their works to the Symposium audience of writers and scholars. The five place winners were also be presented cash awards.
