I’m originally from Madison, Mississippi, and I attended a large public school there. I’ve always felt the need to be challenged more, both socially and academically. When I heard about MSMS, I knew I wanted to apply. No matter how scared I felt moving away from home, I was confident that MSMS would give me the level of challenge I was looking for.
As I enter my senior year, I can say I was right! Being here has pushed me to reach my fullest potential and has helped me accomplish more than I ever thought I could. Being involved in different clubs and community service, helping my junior buddies through their first few weeks here, and contributing to the MSMS community (my home) in ways that go beyond academics has been gratifying.
I’m really looking forward to making the most of my last year at MSMS and creating more memories with my fellow seniors. Coming to MSMS and building friendships with like-minded people who genuinely want the best for you has changed my perspective on friendship. I also want to take advantage of opportunities that I may not have again after graduation.
One of my favorite parts of junior year was simply being able to live and learn everyday with the same group of people that made MSMS feel like a second home. Some specific memories include the little moments with friends such as late-night conversations in front of hooper or at the rocking chairs, intense card games in the 24-hour section, playing various sports in the green space, and getting ready for any big event with my best friends. Those moments made even the challenging parts of junior year worth it.
Outside of school, I like being involved in different clubs, activities and sports, especially ones where I get to work with other people. I’m usually the type of person who likes to stay busy, try new things, and make the most of every opportunity.
