The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science proudly congratulates Class of 2021 graduate Sophia Toner on being awarded the prestigious Marshall Scholarship.
Funded by the British government, the Marshall Scholarship is one of the most distinguished international awards available to American students. Established in 1953 to strengthen the relationship between the United States and the United Kingdom, the scholarship provides up to two years of fully funded graduate study at a British university of the recipient’s choice.
Sophia, a senior at the University of Mississippi, becomes just the fifth Ole Miss student to receive this highly competitive honor. She plans to pursue a master’s degree in maritime policy and shipping management at Cardiff University, followed by a master’s degree in international security at the University of Bristol. Her academic focus centers on maritime security, global shipping systems, and international governance.
We are incredibly proud of Sophia’s continued academic excellence and global impact. Her achievement reflects the dedication, intellectual curiosity, and leadership that define our MSMS alumni community.
