The Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science (MSMS) esports team is celebrating a monumental victory after taking home the 2024 Fall Mario Kart Championship at the 2024 Fall Esports Championships hosted on December 10th at the University of Southern Mississippi.
The highlight of the event was the Mario Kart Championship, where our students showed out on the track. MSMS was represented by an outstanding team of racers who showed great determination to secure the win. A special congratulations goes out to our champions featured in the photo from left to right:

While the Mario Kart Championship was the highlight, the 2024 Fall Esports Championships featured a wide variety of esports titles, with MSMS participating in multiple events. Our team’s performance was outstanding across several disciplines, demonstrating the depth of talent at MSMS.
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (SSBU)
MSMS fielded multiple teams in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.- SSBU A: Israel Cecil, Acyn Harrell, Jordan Rule (Quarterfinals)
- SSBU B: Jett Woods, Phillip Black, Logan Wood (Playoffs)
- SSBU C: Le’Baudrio Bridgeford, Nyden Barretto-Solis, Dowson Aguilar
- League of Legends
The League of Legends team placed 18th in the Central Region; Nicolas Toner, Nyden Barretto-Solis, Phillip Black, Jordan Rule, Jad Frazier. Special recognition goes to Jad Frazier (Flowood, MS), who finished 5th overall in individual play for League of Legends.
- Valorant
The Valorant team finished 23rd in the Central Region; Zander Dennison, Alonso Bocanegra, Ryan Wu, Carson Caldwell, Aden Byrd
- Splatoon
The Splatoon team finished 9th in the Central Region; Israel Cecil, Danica Belingon, Lillian Adcock, Charles Martin
