MSMS 2023 Quiz Bowl Team Recent Successes

Our MSMS Quiz Bowl Teams have experienced a variety of success since the start of the new year. In honor of their achievements, we would like to highlight some of the tournaments that they recently participated in.

On January 14, 2023, the NAQT Daniel Adams Memorial III: Quizbowl Tournament took place at Itawamba Agricultural High School. Twenty-four teams from across Mississippi participated in the event. Our A Team won first place followed by B team in fourth. JD Hagood ranked sixth overall highest individual scorer and was joined by Dylan Randall in seventh place.

B Team: Jules Gallo, JD Hagood, Maryann Dang, and Gavin Weinstein

On February 11, 2023, the NAQT Mississippi State High School Spring Invitational: Quizbowl Tournament took place at MSU in Allen Hall. Fifteen teams battled it out, with the MSMS A Team securing the first-place victory. Our B Team followed close behind by obtaining second in placement. Dylan Randall secured the second highest individual score and was accompanied by Jules Gallo in third overall.

On March 4, 2023, the University of Mississippi Academic Quiz Tournament took place at Ole Miss in Lamar Hall. This competition was additionally open to the neighboring schools in the Alabama, Arkansas, and Tennessee areas. The MSMS A Team obtained the Dr. M. Lynne Murchison Memorial Championship Trophy with a convincing six game and no loss win streak. The MSMS B Team valiantly achieved the top seed of their preliminary bracket, but fell just short of top placement.

Both teams have achieved great success this year and are hopeful to attend two major tournaments in the upcoming months. Below are the details for the remaining competitions:
