I’m originally from Columbia, Mississippi, and I previously attended East Marion High School. I’ve always had an interest in STEM subjects, and after attending AAYME Camp the summer before my sophomore year, I knew I had to apply to MSMS.
As I head into my senior year, I’m looking forward to having fun during my last year of high school sports and making memories at senior events like portraits, Senior Sunrise, and the senior picnic.
I’m most proud of being a part of the MSMS Black History program. It was a huge success last year, and I hope it continues to grow and make an impact. I’m also proud of creating a podcast about mental health disparities in Mississippi, specifically within the African American community, for the school’s podcast channel, Real Mississippi.
One of my favorite memories from junior year was when my suitemates decorated my room with balloons and my favorite snacks for my 17th birthday. After coming back from a track meet, it was amazing to walk into that surprise. That gesture made me appreciate the lifelong friends I’ve made at MSMS.
My favorite hobbies and interests are volunteering, being active in Delta Growing Empowering Myself Successfully (G.E.M.S), playing soccer, running track, and attending the Black Student Alliance meetings and events.
